Educators assess children to measure their development and see whether the programs children attend contribute to their growth. The Child Observation Record (COR) from HighScope is an observation-based instrument for the systematic assessment of children in all areas of development. It is organized into 6 categories and 32 items. Within each item are 5 developmental levels that describe children’s behavior ranging from (1) simple to (5) more complex. Alduts at Kidzone record objective anecdotal notes on children throughout the year and use them to produce COR reports. The COR reports will be sent to children’s parents two times per year.
